Bruce Sudano on tour!

Bruce Sudano 3

Bruce Sudano is a singer songwriter musician who hails from Brooklyn, NY (USA) and he has gracefully managed quite a prolific career to date. Bruce is now coming back to the forefront as a solo artist. In the early 1970’s, Bruce was a member the pop rock outfit Alive N Kickin’ playing keyboards before embarking on a solo career and songwriting.

He relocated back to Brooklyn after his LA spell and teamed up with Joe “ Bean” Esposito and Eddie Hokenson co-founding the pop soul band Brooklyn Dreams in 1977 with whom he recorded four albums on Millennium / Casablanca Records. The group’s enchanting and very soulful single “Music, Harmony & Rhythm” inspired Pete Rock and Rell’s 2008 hip hop soul classic “That’s What I’m Talking About”.

Bruce met label mate, dubbed ‘Queen of Disco’ the late Donna Summer in 1977 and they started writing together. Donna performed a few songs with Bruce’s Brooklyn Dreams band including the noteworthy “Heaven Knows”. Bruce co-wrote four tracks for his wife of 30 years Donna Summer’s seminal “Bad Girls” album, “On My Honor”, “Lucky”, “ Can’t Get to Sleep” and “Bad Girls”, as well as a number one country hit in 1980 for Dolly Parton “Starting Over Again” and  a Grammy nominated “Tell Me I’m Not Dreaming” recorded by Jermaine and the late Michael Jackson and also recorded by UK ‘blue eyed soul’ don the late Robert Palmer.

Sudano’s film scores contributions include “American Hot Wax”, “Thank God It’s Friday”, “The Hollywood Knights”, “Perfect” and Robert Townsend’s “The Five Heartbeats”, and Snoop Dog sampled “Hollywood Knights” for “Deez Hollywood Knights” in 2008. Bruce Sudano is also the founder of indie record label Purple Heart Recording Company. Currently Bruce and the Candyman band project is touring Europe featuring his producer and guitarist Randy Mitchell with an album that’s running the circuit called “The Burbank Sessions”. KFP consultants Barry King and Fitzroy Facey caught his only date in London at The Islington in Angel. Mixing soul with a touch of folk and blues, the acoustic sessions were welcomed by the intimate audience and they showed much appreciation for Bruce’s own rendition of his co-written disco classic “Bad Girls”.
